A rare and exquisite collection of aged Ramon Allones cigars, celebrating the brand's legacy with exclusive Regional and Limited Editions
Hello dear reader,
Welcome to 2025, a year filled with new plans, exciting releases, and moments that will undoubtedly enrich our shared journey through the world of Cuban cigars. 2025 begins on a high note with the announcement of the Ramon Allones Absolutos, the final Limited Edition of 2024, set to be launched in Basel in the first Monday of February. As I look forward to what lies ahead, I felt inspired to tell you about a rare gem from Ramon Allones.
So today we turn our attention to the House Reserve Series 1790 humidor, a masterpiece crafted by Hunters & Frankau to honor the brand’s enduring legacy and its deep ties to the UK. This exceptional release is a treasure trove of history, blending art, heritage, and the unmistakable charm of Ramon Allones.
When it comes to Cuban cigars, few names inspire the kind of resonance that Ramon Allones does. Known for its rich history, bold blends, and loyal following, the brand has been immortalized in a breathtaking release for the UK market a few years ago. British distributor Hunters & Frankau has unveiled the House Reserve Series 1790 humidor, a masterpiece containing some of the most exceptional Ramon Allones cigars ever produced. With only 50 humidors crafted, this piece is an exceptional humidor to own, you’ll see why a bit later in the article.
The Ramon Allones Legacy Meets British Elegance
Hunters & Frankau and Ramon Allones share a deep-rooted connection. The distributor once owned both the Ramon Allones factory and the brand’s global trademark rights, a relationship that lasted until 1927. This shared history has now been honored in the House Reserve Series 1790, featuring 61 cigars, each a rare gem from either the Edición Limitada or Regional Edition lines released in the UK over the past 16 years.
The humidors are adorned with the Hunters & Frankau logo plate and crafted to perfection, holding cigars that are true pieces of history.
What’s Inside the Humidor?
Here’s the breakdown of the cigars included in this extraordinary release:
- Belicoso – Exclusivo Gran Bretaña Regional Edition 2005
- Allones Extra – Edición Limitada 2011
- Petit Belicoso – Exclusivo Gran Bretaña Regional Edition 2012
- Club Allones – Edición Limitada 2015
- H&F Aniversario 225 – Exclusivo Gran Bretaña Regional Edition 2015
- Allones No. 2 – Edición Limitada 2019
- Private Stock 230 – Exclusivo Gran Bretaña Regional Edition
Each humidor contains 10 cigars of each size, except for a single Belicoso from 2005, one of the first Regional Edition cigars ever produced.
The Premiere of the Private Stock 230
The highlight of this collection is the Ramon Allones Private Stock 230, created to celebrate Hunters & Frankau’s 230th anniversary. Measuring 170mm by 50 ring gauge, this vitola shares its dimensions with the much-loved Por Larrañaga Magnifico, another UK Regional Edition from 2007.
At the time of the release of this special humidor the Private Stock 230 was not yet released, it did eventually get released separately in boxes of 25. This is one of my favourite cigars, to be honest. It is a fitting tribute to the Hunters & Frankau legacy, bringing together history, exclusivity, and exceptional craftsmanship in one unforgettable blend.
Here’s What Makes This Humidor So Special!
These aren’t newly rolled cigars, they’ve been carefully aged under Hunters & Frankau’s House Reserve program since their respective releases. Each cigar features a footband signifying its inclusion in this aging program, ensuring that every cigar offers the complexity and depth that only time can bring. If you are like me your mouth is watering right now just thinking these beauties exist.
The House Reserve Series 1790 humidor stands as proof to what careful curation and aging can achieve. It’s not just the cigars themselves but the story behind them, decades of dedication to preserving fragile cigars to one day be able to celebrate the legacy of Ramon Allones and Hunters & Frankau’s rich history.
The Cost of Exclusivity
With a retail price of £22,500 when it was announced, i believe, this release was certainly an investment, but one that serious collectors will undoubtedly covet. Limited to just 50 units, the humidor embodies the rare combination of historical significance, exquisite craftsmanship, and aged tobacco flavours. I can’t even guess what it would be worth today.
A Collector’s Perspective
For aficionados and collectors, this humidor is a dream realized. As a collector, there’s something deeply satisfying about knowing the cigars in your humidor have been aged to perfection and hold a piece of history within their bands.
The inclusion of rare cigars like the Allones Extra Edición Limitada 2011 and the Belicoso 2005 UK Regional is enough to spark envy. But what truly elevated this collection when it was launched was the premiere of the Private Stock 230, a cigar that blends the legacy of Ramon Allones with the tradition of Hunters & Frankau.
The House Reserve Series 1790 humidor is a celebration of Ramon Allones, Hunters & Frankau, and the enduring appeal of Cuban cigars. For those fortunate enough to secure one of these 50 treasures, it represents the pinnacle of cigar collecting and a tribute to the craftsmanship that makes Cuban cigars unparalleled.
As 2025 dawns, the story of this release is a reminder of why we love cigars. It’s not just the smoke, it’s the story and the history that make every puff a journey worth savoring.
Wishing you rich flavors and good company—until we meet again.
